This is for a friend and I'm working on a truck for her too, but couldn't wait to show this little guy out. The main body is done with no seams, hard to believe but it's true! Even the bottom, I worked to make sure was smooth and seamless :) The windows are felt sewn onto the knit body after it was fully stuffed.

The rocket pillow is super soft and cuddly and I'm having a hard time letting it go. My son is not as interested in it (he's 3.5), but maybe I'll make him a similar one!

Also, finally made use of the baby jars I've been saving up since the time my daughter used to eat organic baby food. Running a risk of being called a hoarder (love that show) I've been keeping these (about 10 or so) in our Tupperware drawer and driving my husband mad! But here they are in all their cuteness. :)
This is the sweater and a hat set I made for a friend. She loved it and I relived my son's babyhood making this sweater.

Baby boy truck sweater set

The truck is actually a pocket. It's a little primitive looking but I think it achieves that baby boy look :)
I'm so proud of this one even though it's not perfect. It's my first fondant cake. I've worked with fondant before for details on the cake, but not actually the entire cake. I got the inspiration for the look of the ladybug from a fellow blogger Haniela and added the base part of the cake and used the basic recipes for each part of the cake, adding some personal touches to it. It's marshmallow fondant, strawberry buttercream filling and pound cake. It was surprisingly delicious - I was afraid the fondant will be too sweet. The first cake is a bit bumpy but I love it and will be making another fondant cake soon!
The princess mania is overwhelming, when it comes to birthday party themes or clothes for little girls. I don't like the idea of her thinking she's a princess. If royalty, why not a Queen, why settle for the secondary or demure role of a princess. Not my baby, not with her strong will.

With all that being said I don't shy away from pink or anything else girly like a ballerina. I was in ballet when I was a little girl and growing up in the former Soviet Union, Russian ballet was always talked about or written about. I remember reading biographies of legendary Russian ballerinas at a tender age of seven or eight.

So this little tutu reminds me of my childhood. Making this little one made me super happy. I'm not a seamstress, nor do I pretend to be. It's a no sew tutu, but I'm attempting at making a more complicated version with silk flowers and flower petals in the near future.Lovemookhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00684332706646866949noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8682832665598083712.post-28475915925039454762010-09-13T18:35:00.000-04:002010-09-13T18:35:14.126-04:00Some Finished Projects

I have a few pants I need to finish up and photograph. Lime green pants for my little guy, they'll probably have a felt monster teeth attached somewhere (probably the butt hehe) and then some knitted baby legs I made her when she was an infant which I adjusted and made into pants. They are always crawling around and in the winter it gets cold, even with the rug over the hard wood floors. It is time for me to restart my blog anew, with some fresh ideas, a new baby girl in addition to my little guy, and some unexpected but welcome free time on my hands.

I'll try to post my knitting and crocheting photos, ideas, techniques and other stories of other creative adventures such as sewing and painting.

This is my latest two creations, baby girl in her baby girl tutu pants. I took a simple pant idea and made it super-girly. The tutu itself might not be as functional as the warmth of the pants on a cold Maine night, but now that I have a baby girl, I can't stop with the girly stuff.

Below is a picture of couple mommy-baby beret pumpkins I knitted last year. I'm thinking of knitting one for my own pumpkin this fall. It was a fast and fun knit. I'll have to recreate the pattern from memory, but it was super easy.

Lovemookhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00684332706646866949noreply@blogger.com1
