Tutu Mania

I've been avoiding all things Princess with my daughter.  The princess mania is overwhelming, when it comes to birthday party themes or clothes for little girls.  I don't like the idea of her thinking she's a princess.  If royalty, why not a Queen, why settle for the secondary or demure role of a princess. Not my baby, not with her strong will.

Baby's first tutu

With all that being said I don't shy away from pink or anything else girly like a ballerina.    I was in ballet when I was a little girl and growing up in the former Soviet Union, Russian ballet was always talked about or written about.  I remember reading biographies of legendary Russian ballerinas at a tender age of seven or eight.

So this little tutu reminds me of my childhood.  Making this little one made me super happy.  I'm not a seamstress, nor do I pretend to be. It's a no sew tutu, but I'm attempting at making a more complicated version with silk flowers and flower petals in the near future.
